Is there a way we can encourage industry to share their data to inform other bits of the marine area statement themes?
Can we identify who the particular industry bodies are in particular? Is it energy companies, or their contractors for example?
@kathryn.hughes I think it depends on who the data owners are - the contractors maybe the best to help inform the best way for sharing data, but as the companies are the ones that own the data that can be more difficult. There has been some work done by MEDIN (marine environmental data and information network) - communication is key to this... I think as long as we are clear why we want the data / what we might use it for then ultimately hopefully we can work together to improve our evidence base across different sectors...
@harriet.robinson @kathryn.hughes We are hoping to run a few research projects in the demo zone and will be looking to publish/share data when we have it. Let me know if you would like me to keep you updated, also we are willing to collect data for you (within the realms of our capabilities) so if there is anything you would like us to study then also let me know!
I think linking up beyond the demozone a good idea, as data may not be location specific; marine scotland and Raenne Miller / Benjamin Williamson @ UHI. If anyone is interested in approaching Welsh Gov. about a visitor centre please contact me - email@example.com
