QUESTION SUBMITTED LIVE:
Have you any suggestions on how to protect a habitat that has been restored e.g. native oysters that have been placed to restore populations but have no protection from poaching?
Hi Richard, Hugh from Waterford Sub Aqua club, we would love to add an eco project to our club. where or how can we get some seeds to start regenerating seagrass in our area?
@Richard (Project Seagrass). Interesting talk, thanks. You mention habitat suitability modelling for seagrass – Can you elaborate on this? How is this calculated, modelled and mapped?
You mentioned Seagrass presence was reverse modelled in Wales as there is limited data about decline. Was there any physical evidence of seagrass at Dale for you to be able to 'restore'? Thanks.
Is there a discussion going on about adapting the marine licencing process for enhancement/restoration project proposals? As Richard says, it's difficult to apply for permissions under the same framework as development/other activities.
Great Presentation Richard!
QUESTION SUBMITED LIVE:
@richard (project seagrass) - Linked to Colin’s question: do you envisage the 30km2 restoration being brand new locations, or are you restoring areas that already exists to improve or expand our current seagrass habitats in Wales?
Richard mentioned ambition is key. What would be a realistic but ambitious aspiration for native oyster restoration? How much for a native oyster population with spawning and recruitment self sufficiency and colonising ability?
Hi Richard - How does the project plan to involve citizen volunteers later this year?
